Dempsey (again)
Bruce at duNord reports that:
Four USA players were released back to their clubs following yesterday’s game:
Carlos Bocanegra - Fulham
Brian Carroll - DC United
Tim Howard - Everton
Oguchi Onyewu - Newcastle
so I guess Dempsey’s staying with the USA, which presumably means he’s not needed for the weekend.
Damn. I’d rather see Dempsey earn some playing time with Fulham than play in a meaningless friendly against Guatemala.

Hey, at least he’s getting play time. Coleman evidently has no confidence in the boy. He payed a lot of money for him to just be sitting. Then again I guess he ended up picking up some pretty experienced midfielders after the arrival of Dempsey. This reminds me a bit of what happened to Bobby Convey at Reading. His first year at the club he came in midseason and it was disastrous as he was picking splinters out of his ass from bench sitting so much. He confidence was absolutely trashed. But he stuck with it and the following season, when he was able to actually go through preseason training with the team, he started getting more play time and was a very big part of the teams success last year. He looked to be on fire again this season until injuries pulled him down. He is now out for the remainder of the season.
So I guess this is character building time for the Deuce. He was invisible on Sundays game against Ecuador and missed a “gimme” goal.
Boc’s however, had an outstanding game and is again showing the growth that he has experianced playing at Fulham. He is really coming into his own.
On the other hand, Gooch was horrible and I mean god awful. In his defense, the man has had lots of ups and downs and changes in the past 4 months or so. Hopefully he can get someplace where things are a bit more stable for him. From what I read the other day, Roeder is not at all sure he wants to keep him after this season.
