It says here. Lovely gesture, but I hope this doesn’t catch on. Until very recently all players wore 1-11. If other teams start retiring these premium numbers we’ll lose something that’s good and pure about football as it was and as it should be. I look forward to squad number announcements and like it when the best players have the best (low) numbers.

Passing on
Whenever life seems really bad I read a few pages from this man. It’s quite hard to feel sorry for yourself after that. RIP, Mr Solzhenitsyn.
And so, looking back, the 12 hour football marathon wasn’t *that* bad.
That’s me in the number 5 shirt on the right. I’ve included this one because the opposition player looks quite good here, doesn’t he?
There’s me watching the good players do their thing from the other end of the pitch. Note the sky blue Holland socks bought for the occasion. They didn’t really work!
Anyway, there’s not much else to talk about today, so thought I’d post these. Grass roots, etc.
