Not wishing to think about our own shortcomings
I’ve written a small tribute to George Boateng for The Times. Where is our Boateng? I want one.

We do have a Boateng. His names Leon Andreasson.
Rob – exactly!
indeed. let’s hope he gets a game. I reckon he has goals in him too.
and we also have Andranik who in pre-season was playing really well in a holding Makelele like position. But who does he replace, the captain or the folk hero?
Reckon Murphy should start on bench, come on for last twenty minutes to either keep the ball if we are winning, or if losing to play killer passes when their defence are tired to the likes of AJ and Kamara.
Watching the ManU-Newcastle game earlier, it struck me that what we need is a Nicky Butt type player – unfussy, protects the back four and makes the tackles he needs to, and a good distributer. An uninjured version of Sean Davis would do.
Hopefully Andranik or Andreasen can do that job, but we desperately need a DM, or at the very least a tough-tackling CM in the Michael Brown mould. There is just too much space between the midfield and the back four. A DM would also allow Bullard to influence the game more, allow having seen him play recently I’m not so sure that would be such a great idea!
nice analysis. I’ve always liked Boateng. He really is the example of what differred between the two sides.
