Fun with numbers: Danny Murphy tackles a lot
Danny Murphy has 53 tackles this year. Only four players have more. I still can’t get my head around Steed Malbranque being on the list…
| Tacklers | Team | Tackles | Success rate | ||||
| Muamba | Bolton | 56 | 82% | ||||
| Malbranque | Sunderland | 54 | 76% | ||||
| Butt | Newcastle | 54 | 63% | ||||
| Murphy | Fulham | 53 | 81% | ||||
| Zuiverloon | West Brom | 53 | 77% |

I don’t think either Tigana or Coleman could generate commitment from him.
Not only that, but Murphy has also played one fewer game than the rest of that list! It’s weird, but the way things are shaping up, we’re actually going to have a few solid candidates for player of the year.
I’m off to the Cottage on Saturday for the Spurs game, have tickets in the Hammy end. Going with a friend nice and early to make a day of it. Want to have a few bevvies before the game, can anyone suggest a decent couple of Boozers for home support near or on route to the ground from Putney Bridge? It’s been a while since I’ve been and taken the train, so want to make the most of it! Cheers guys
That kid Muamba is going to be really good.
AFJ – The Bricklayers Arms and The Coat & Badge are both nice old fashioned pubs both popular with Fulham fans. The Brick is a bit of a TiFF clique haunt, The Coat & Badge a bit tucked out the way. See link below for a map.

The Duke’s Head is a bit bigger and nice to stand by the river on a bright day. The Larrick & The Temperence tend to get a lot of away fans in but are a decent size and OK if you don’t want to walk too far. The Golden Lion is probably THE TiFF pub, but is usually rammed. Avoid the Eight Bells!
Interesting also to see Butt on the list too as I thought that he and Barton (as much as he is a little thug) were really pretty good against us last weekend – especially in the second half.
Thanks Chopper! Will try to pop into a couple of them.
Interesting stats indeed. Some of us reckoned we had been seeing that — loads of tackles, on the whole successful — but there’s the perennial danger of eyes deceiving on the day. Given that he’s already best passer in our team, he’s now deserved first pick in midfield, armband or no armband. Only hope he doesn’t land a yellow that keeps him out of the Anfield visit — and isn’t over-preoccupied on Saturday with avoiding one.
