This adds Dempsey and Kamara to the chart.   Good discussion below for those who missed it.

  1. carrying on from the discussion below, I would certainly agree that there is no ‘constant’ with which to base football statistics on.

I guess the only way of deciphering the randomness of many statistics would be to match the statistics of the footballer with the style/tactics used by a manager. For example in basketball we can see the impact of a coach such as mike d’antoni of the Knicks. When he was at the suns, his run and gun basketball helped steve nash recieve two MVP awards through the dynamic pass and shoot transition basketball. Hodgson is obviously by nature a cautious and italian styled coach who holds solidity and shape above all else. This has without doubt had at least some effect on our strikers and wingers whilst the defence (and the blossoming of Etuhu) has been fantastic.

Another example would be Wenger vs Sanchez/Allardyce. If Danny Murphy played under these managers his style of playwould change. He would be integral to Arsene Wengers style with almost all play going through him. However, under Sanchez or Allardyce his talents would be masked and he would look ‘past it’ (as he was accused of when he first signed for us).

Whilst that is all fairly obvious, if it was possible to record all of the formations and style of play of all matches from all teams then we may get closer to a ‘constant’. That would appear impossible however.
