Erik Nevland can finish can’t he? I’m still of the view that you’re probably better off with a player in the side who does nothing but score than someone who does everything but, and that’s taking unecessarily extreme views of the players involved. Hmmm.

Wow, just from that little bit, EJ looks loads better than last season. More confident on the ball, etc. I hope that small glimpse is true of the rest of his play and I hope he can carry that into the season.

Just back from a week away on one of the toughest courses I’ve ever done. Very happy to be back home and catching up on the Fulham news.

I think the “only scores goals”-type players have a purpose, and can be very valuable. My worry is that Nevland’s weak points would get exposed if he saw more playing time. Good counter-attacking opponents should figure out a way to take advantage of that.
OTOH, I also think that AJ’s hold up play (anyone else hate saying that now?) is very much underrated. I get the impression that a lot of people incorrectly lump that together with being a target man, something AJ is obviously not. But he loses possession less often than most big target forwards, so maybe AJ+goalscorer would work well. Assuming we don’t try too many longballs, of course.
