My concern definitely peaked at higher than 50 at some points, like between the Torres goal (what a phenomenal goal it was) and when he was taken off, and then (paradoxically) between when Nevland scored and when Degen got the red card.

Yeah, I can see that, but I have very low expectations against the big sides so always get into a bit of a slumber. So while my concern went up when Torres scored, we were still 1-1 and I was quite pleased about this, even though I was a now a lot more concerned than I had been at kickoff. The last five minutes were footballing nirvana really.

At 1-1 with penalty denied I told Mrs Pensioner – “That’s it they will win in the 90th minute” = angst
At 2-1 I added “We could yet get a point here”
At 3-1 I told the world “Even Fulhamish can’t throw this”
Final whistle (joy unconfined) Sedate Riversiders involved in much hugging and kissing, even a little capering with Mrs Pensioner on the walk home beside the Thames.
Fellow Riversider His Hon Judge F also of a certain age was heard to say; “The Thames is aglow” This comment was last heard after Fulham 2 Arsenal 1
