Strange ideas about Fulham since 2006

Unattached

Here is the list of players released by Premier League clubs this summer.

From Fulham: Zoltan Gera, Edward Johnson, Diomansy Kamara, John Pantsil, Matthew Saunders

Other interesting names:

Arsenal have released Thomas Cruise
Villa have released Nigel Reo-Coker – could be an interesting signing
Birmingham have released Mitchell McPike
And Maik Taylor, for that matter
Blackpool have released half their squad, for obvious reasons
Manchester United have released Owen Hargreaves, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Edwin van der Sar.  Wow, that’s a lot of history. None of them were vital to United at this point, but what careers, eh?  Sad for Hargreaves, a real ‘what might have been’ story.  (The others have retired).
Newcastle have released our friend Shefki Kuqi
Stoke have released Faye and Sonko, and I must admit that I do get confused between all these big African defensive-midfielder/centre-back types. It always strikes me that Fulham have never really embraced the African destroyer, although of course Papa Bouba Diop was sort of meant to do these things. I wonder where he is now? When he could be bothered he could run a game. Is that unfair?
Giles Barnes has been let go at WBA. Must be cursing running into Roy again.
Upson’s gone from West Ham.
Perennial target Jason Koumas is free from Wigan (I had forgotten he was there).
Jody Craddock’s left Wolves.  Whose choice was that I wonder?

Another interesting name who is technically on a free is Thomas Hitzlsperger, as he had a relegation clause in his contract.

Would love to see him at Fulham.

From the list, the only one that really excites is Nigel Reo-Coker, another reclamation project?

Isn’t Etuhu sort of a classier version of the “African destroyer” type?

Some interesting players available, especially for clubs that might consider a reclamation project. Reo-Coker and Hitzlsperger, as previously mentioned. Larsson, Benjani, Elmander, Hargreaves, Woodgate, Barnes, Spector (Yank bias showing), Upson.

(NB: Javier Garrido is a mistake, Lazio signed him from City last summer.)

I still rate Abdoulaye Faye very highly, though Stoke now has younger players who have done a good job. I was a little surprised to see that he signed with West Ham…think he’s good enough to be contributor in the Premier League.

I’m in favor of signing Tom Cruise.

I think Tom Cruise is a little short for our attack and he thinks the opposition are aliens. Apart from theta could be a good pick up …

Oh I LOVE free agents day!

The best part is scanning all the names and thinking “Wait, what?!? Marcus Bent was on Birmingham City?!? Daniel de Ridder is still alive?!”
