Strange ideas about Fulham since 2006

Loaner Report 8/22/11

Carlos Salcido started and played 82 minutes in Tigres de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León’s (aka Tigres) 1-0 win over San Luis in Mexico’s Apertura 2011.

David Stockdale started and made 5 saves in Ipswich Town’s 5-2 loss to Southampton last Tuesday. On Saturday he started and made 8 saves in Ipswich Town’s 7-1 loss at Peterborough. Ouch.

Danny Hoesen started, played 90 minutes, and scored a goal in Fortuna Sittard’s 4-1 win over FC Emmen.

I watched the Ipswich highlights and am a bit worried. How can a goalkeeper conceding seven goals be in an England squad? Wasn’t his fault, but after a while that’s going to rub off. Ouch.

He made some truly wonderful saves, but the defending has been absolutely shocking.

Plus, Jewell has employed 4 different CB’s (with only Damien Delaney starting more than once) in 4 matches. That can’t be helpful either.

Can loans be cancelled under the “sorry, we were unaware your team sucks” clause?

Ipswich defended like Sanchez had us defending — ridiculously high up the pitch. It was easily exploited. I still think that both Stockdale and Schwarzer would have benefitted from Stockdale staying with us. Stockdale has nobody to learn from in training. Schwarzer has nobody to pressure him. Double loss for Fulham.

On the positive side he’ll get loads of practice …
