Strange ideas about Fulham since 2006

Chelsea 1-1 Fulham

Well, I certainly expected more of what we saw on Wednesday. Chelsea needed to win, or at least that’s what their manager said before the game started, so naturally they’d exploit our weak flanks…right?

Well, somehow, it didn’t turn out that way.

I watched the entire match and still can’t encapsulate what, or how it all happened. Was it their (inexplicable) timidity? Stockdale’s poise in net? Our bizarre but ultimately stifling lineup?

Was it…our white-black-black kits? Hmm…

    You’re the expert…you explain lol!!

    So confused right now..

Who were we playing against again today? They were dressed as Chelsea…but didn’t play like Chelsea…

Goid point about the flanks – Chelsea have i think been quite a narrow side which perhaps plays into our hands.

Just watching the replay now (the down-side of being on the West Coast for Christmas). While we’ve all had our frustrations with Martin Jol this season (warranted and otherwise), I think he’s to be commended in his efforts to make Fulham a more exciting, attacking side.

Maybe the tactics don’t always call for it, and maybe sometimes they’re all a little bit too much of the same-ness, but you’ve gotta appreciate a team that rolls out Dembele, Dempsey, Ruiz and Frei…especially away to Chelsea. With those guys on the field, we might not always win, but we’ll seldom be bored.

(or maybe I just have on a pair of rose-tinted glasses on since I’m a) a bit buzzed, and b) I missed the Swansea game)
