God, we didn’t even contribute enough to show any specific weaknesses. That’s truly embarassing.
The match was so frustrating to watch. There was no discernible plan as to what was happening on or off the ball. We have a glut of talented players who could play some very attractive football if they just had a little dash of tactics thrown at them. As it is now, it seems like everybody save Hangeland, Hughes, and Stockdale are playing different individual games.
I watched the Costa Rica- USA game last Friday. In my opinion, Arsenal’s starlet Joel Campbell should have been the player of the day in CONCACAF, but FIFA selected our own Bryan Ruiz as Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers player of the day:

Player of the day – Brian Ruiz (Costa Rica)
The last time Costa Rica faced the US was in a February snowstorm in Denver. Brian Ruiz was unable to fully display his silky passing skills and creator’s vision with the ball held up in waves of wet, icy mess. The rematch in San Jose on Friday was a different story entirely, with Ruiz, of English Premier League side Fulham, dictating the patterns in midfield. Every Tico attack went through him and his every touch of the ball was met with an ovation from the swooning home fans.
