Loaner Report 2/6/11

It’s back!

It’s crazy to think that not a single player was loaned out during the first part of the season, as that may be a record for Fulham.

Anyway, Eddie Johnson re-joins the loaner ranks for the third time in his illustrious 3 year stint with the club. Also joining is youngin’ Keanu Marsh-Brown.

Eddie Johnson started and played 90 minutes in Preston North End’s 4-0 loss to Bristol City on Saturday. He had 4 shots, none on goal.

Keanu Marsh-Brown started and played 62 minutes in MK Dons’ 2-2 tie at Sheffield Wednesday.

  1. Here’s a poser. Who was the last person to rise up through the academy and play regularly for the first team? Ridgewell?

    1. No one.

Knight and Smalling didn’t come through the academy and Sean Davis predated it. He’s the last youth player to become a first team regular.

Thing is it takes years to see a return and in the last 3 or 4 years serious attempts have been made to improve the academy. Too soon for the results to be apparent.

  2. I rather doubt that the academy is a good use of financial resources. My man in the know at another mid-ranking Premiership club reckons that their’s costs £3-4m a year to run. Ours can’t be much different. If so, we’d be better saving the money and having £6-8m to spend on a proven player every other season.

    1. MESSAGE FOR: Kevin T in Sydney
STOP HATING our young talent for achieving something you can’t.
Marsh-Brown was offered Pro Contracts at 15. Signed at 16.
Selected and is still currently an England International.
Was on the bench or in the squad for all Europa Games. If Roy was still at Fulham I am sure he would of been introduced into the first team this season.
Gone on loan and set-up both MK Dons goals last saturday and trying to get better and prove himself. Get Off His Back!!

To us it seems as though youYou seem to know alot about nothing. Keanu was the youngest in the U18’s being an August 92 born and went up to the reserve team and he was only 17. They might not of been shouting his name from the roof tops
